TPLF’s Sudan Incursion: The Latest Frontier in Regional Conflict

In a recent development, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) accused of employing foreign mercenaries, with mounting evidence suggesting the presence of fighters from the Tigray Liberation Front (TPLF). This group, previously implicated in alleged atrocities in Ethiopia, is now reported to be fighting alongside SAF and allied militias linked to Sudan’s former regime, deemed terrorist.

Moreover, a report from the Financial Times reveals that TPLF officials have stated the willingness of up to 30,000 loyalists reside in Sudan to participate in the conflict and establish a supply corridor with Sudan. This highlights the intensifying tensions and the potential for further destabilization in the region

Reports indicate that the SAF has consistently engaged jihadist forces associated with terrorist networks and armed mercenary groups since the onset of the conflict on April 15, 2023. This revelation sheds light on the complexities of the ongoing war and raises concerns about the involvement of external actors in the region’s turmoil.
